2009 VINTAGE YEAR

The magic of 9

"It's a very very good year. Overall the quality is perfect and the grapes are very healthy. We've rarely seen such a situation." Pierre Aguilas, vigneron and president of the Loire Valley Wine Trade Fair, is brimming with enthusiasm. The magic of years ending in 9 seems to be working again. Volume, quality ... the 2009 has everything in its favour!
The excellent spring weather, and a hot summer with an ideal August and September, pointed to a quality crop. The only disruption was caused by the hail episode in mid-July, which slightly lowered yields in some appellations.
In terms of quality, the first samples provided rapid reassurance, and in some cases even suggested an outstanding vintage.

First impressions of the 2009 vintage ?
The whites have restrained aromas, great finesse and dominant fruity notes.
The reds, deep ruby in colour, are concentrated.
The rosés, fines bulles, and sweet wines seem particulary accomplished.
A strong constitution and vinosity characterise the wines of this particulary promising vintage.
